Source Coverage
Filtrbox monitors millions of online sources for mentions of your search terms. A source is an online content publisher or website that produces news articles. We classify these sources into three broad categories; mainstream news, blogs and social media. When articles are identified and qualified they are also grouped into these sources to allow further analysis and filtering. These source categories as periodically updated to reflect the changing nature of online media.

Mainstream news includes the traditional media sources who also produce web content. This category includes such stalwarts as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and other mainstream publications. |

Blog content is an ever growing category of user generated content. This includes large established blogs like Techcrunch and The Huffington Post as well as smaller more niche focused sources indexed by Technorati and Google Blogsearch. We also index thousands of individual blogs not covered by the indexing services. The blogosphere has over 10 million blogs, with thousands being added ever day. Filtrbox monitors almost all of them! Additionally, we monitor blog and website comments and conversations through our partnership with Backtype. |

Social media by our definition is content formated in 140 characters or less. Filtrbox monitors Twitter and FriendFeed. Facebook and others are coming soon! |
Custom Sources
Filtrbox allows you to add your own sources to your account for custom monitoring. You can add RSS feeds on the Account tab of the dashboard. Filtrbox will then begin constantly watching those feeds for new articles that match your Filtrs. FiltrRank™ is aware of which sources are yours, and gives articles found from these sources extra weight.
